Charged more than the invoice? Card pre-authorization vs the final (tax-exempt) charge

You were not charged sales tax. When the order was initially placed, a temporary authorization was put on your credit card that included sales tax. After we received your tax exemption certificate, we removed the sales tax from the order and finalized the charge for the corrected invoice amount, excluding sales tax.
